Structural Engineer In Training (EIT)

ATS is seeking a Structural EIT in our Austin, TX office to support residential and light commercial projects throughout Central Texas.

The successful candidate will be interested in growing as a structural engineer while working alongside experienced engineers and drafters. This role supports projects including single-family homes, townhouses, light commercial buildings, tenant finish-outs, foundations, framing and related structural elements.

Job Activities Include

  • Structural analysis and design for residential and light commercial projects
  • Foundation, framing and structural element design
  • Preparation of calculations, design documents and engineering support materials
  • Coordination with engineers, drafters, clients and project stakeholders
  • Support for multiple projects while meeting deadlines and client expectations

Specific Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil or Architectural Engineering with a structural focus
  • Master’s degree or E.I.T. certification in Texas is a plus
  • Experience with building structures, wood or steel framing, and concrete foundation design is preferred
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and communicate clearly with supervisors and project teams
  • Experience with RISA, Enercalc, Excel or similar design tools is preferred

Commercial Combination Building Inspector – Austin Area

ATS is seeking a personable, motivated individual with a desire to be part of our growing inspections team. Our ideal candidate will have International Code Council (ICC) Inspection certifications, commercial building (B2), mechanical (M2), electrical (E2) and plumbing (P2). A Texas State plumbing inspector’s license is a plus. Consideration will be given to all qualified candidates.

JOB SUMMARY

Successful candidate will perform building code inspections on an as-needed basis. This is a mid- level position with daily customer interactions that reports directly to the Inspection Department Manager. Projects inspected include commercial construction types of all sizes and complexities. The annual pay is competitive and dependent on experience and qualifications. Benefits include, but are not limited to, a company vehicle, health and retirement.

Licensed Inspector:

  • Inspects new and existing commercial building construction for city, state and local building codes as well as compliance with engineered specifications.
  • Interpret building plans, sketches, specifications and drawings
  • Provides needed interpretations of the various building codes
  • Maintains certifications and participates in continuing education programs

QUALIFICATIONS

Licenses Required:

  • Valid Texas Driver’s License, State Plumbing Inspector License, ICC Commercial Combination Building Inspector (preferred but not required), ICC Building Inspector, ICC Mechanical Inspector, ICC Plumbing Inspector, and ICC Electrical Inspector certifications preferred.

Education and Experience:

  • Two (2) years of related work experience or equivalent experience.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Typical requirements for residential and commercial inspections and may include the following: exerting up to 50 pounds, balancing, climbing, crawling, crouching, and light repetitive motion.
